The 2018 edition of Mouvement, the social innovation contest that offers media visibility, guidance and cash prizes, is underway.

Developed by Novae and Loto-Québec, the Mouvement contest invites individuals, entrepreneurs, organizations and SMBs wanting to make a difference in their community and environment to submit their social innovation projects by November 13. Whether it’s a new social economy initiative, the launch of a product with significant environmental benefits or a campaign to drum up community engagement, the objective is to put forward innovative ideas and make a powerful socio-environmental impact in Quebec.

In early December, the 10 best projects will be selected as finalists and showcased on the Novae website. The general public will then be able to vote for their favourite candidates. In January, the 10 finalists will take part in two full days of mentoring and networking with experts chosen by the various contest partners. The goal of these two days is to brainstorm with the finalists, help them determine how best to structure their projects, and give them the opportunity to meet leaders and business people with the potential to help turn their ideas into reality.

The final stage of Mouvement will take place in February 2018: the 10 candidates will make their final pitch in front of an audience. The $10,000 Loto-Québec price will then be awarded, along with the coups de cœur prizes given out by the other contest partners. The winners will then have one year to complete their projects and solidify their role as positive and engaged leaders.

For three years now, the Mouvement contest has been discovering new talents and acting as a launch pad for inspiring projects with a significant social impact,” indicated Mickaël Carlier, president of Novae. “Like Loop, ÉAU, Give-a-Seat or Bois Public, to name just a few, the projects selected for Mouvement make a major difference in their community. As in the other years, we will be looking for people with inspiring and innovative projects!
